Select images to get started. AVIF and OxiPNG use free WebAssembly encoders loaded when needed.

Privacy: files are processed locally in your browser by this tool. Browser support varies by format. AVIF, GIF, QOI and OxiPNG use browser encoders or open-source libraries loaded when needed. An internet connection is required for those libraries. If an encoder fails to load, the tool reports an error rather than silently returning another format.

Maximum image size depends on your browser memory and device. Very large images may fail; test with a smaller image first.

Simple image conversion for your workflow

Use the right image format for websites, documents and everyday sharing. The tool checks the actual output type rather than assuming every browser supports every encoder.

WEB

WebP conversion

Convert supported images to WebP and adjust lossy quality to balance image detail and file size.

AVIF

AVIF conversion

Use a dedicated WebAssembly encoder to create AVIF output. Encoder-loading errors are reported clearly.

PNG

PNG and JPEG

Export standard formats for graphics, screenshots, photos and common publishing needs.

Free Online Image Converter

Why use a free online image converter?

A free online image converter helps you choose the right format for different tasks. WebP and AVIF can reduce file sizes for web use, PNG is useful for lossless graphics and transparency, and JPEG is common for photos. Always compare the final file size and image quality before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Is this image converter free?

Yes. The included browser-based conversion does not require a paid API. Your hosting plan and internet connection may still affect library loading and performance.

Are my images uploaded to DigitalRiseHub?

The core conversion uses your browser's local image processing. Selected files are not sent to a conversion server by this code. External encoder libraries, when added, should be reviewed separately before deployment.

How does AVIF conversion work?

AVIF output uses a dedicated open-source WebAssembly encoder rather than relying only on browser Canvas support. The encoder must load successfully; network, CDN, browser memory or security settings can still cause an error. The tool reports failures instead of silently renaming another format.

Does GIF output preserve animation?

The built-in GIF option is intended for a single static image. Preserving animation requires a dedicated animated GIF encoder and frame-processing workflow.

Are AVIF and OxiPNG supported?

This version attempts to load free WebAssembly encoders for AVIF and OxiPNG. AVIF creates a real AVIF file when the encoder loads successfully. OxiPNG optimizes PNG files losslessly; if you select another input image, it first creates a PNG before optimizing it. Encoder loading can depend on the browser, network, CDN availability and WordPress security settings.

What is the maximum image size?

There is no universal fixed limit in this code. The practical maximum depends on device memory, browser limits, image dimensions and the selected encoder. Start with smaller files when testing.
